Alex Byrne isn’t your typical makeup artist. While Alex was obsessed with beauty and makeup from early childhood, she entered college on a pre-med and chemistry track—later returning to her original passion once she graduated. Soon after receiving private instruction from the National Training Director at Chanel, Alex was tapped by MAC Cosmetics to be one of the first makeup artists at the original Chicago flagship store. Her success prompted her to move to New York and she was quickly adopted by Francois Nars and Stephane Marais as their go-to assistant on fashion shows and photo shoots. When London started calling for her talents, she relocated there to regularly assist world-renowned makeup artists, including Pat McGrath, Dick Page, Val Garland and Charlotte Tilbury, at exhilarating shows such as Tom Ford, Dolce & Gabanna, Chanel, Prada, Dior Couture, Givenchy Couture, Balenciaga, McQueen and Marc Jacobs. A prominent educator and speaker in the field, Alex was a long-standing contributing Beauty Expert for The Guardian, and has written and conducted master classes, hosted PR events, and consulted on new product development for brands including Christian Dior, Givenchy, Serge Lutens, Sisley Paris, Shu Uemura, Kiehl's, MAC and Dr Hauschka. These days, Alex can most often be found working with celebrities and prominent personalities for press junkets and red carpet events all over the globe. |
